LED waterproof light strings are usually designed with flexible circuits or silicone encapsulation, which enables them to have certain bending and folding capabilities. However, frequent or excessive bending and folding may affect the life of the light string. If the internal wires or LED solder joints of the light string are repeatedly bent, it may cause metal fatigue or even breakage, affecting the conductivity. Although the LED itself is more durable, long-term bending may loosen the connection between the lamp bead and the substrate, resulting in poor contact or accelerated light decay. If the outer skin of the light string is worn due to frequent bending, its waterproof and insulation performance may be reduced.
First, avoid repeatedly folding or bending the light string in the same position. Although the LED light string has a certain degree of flexibility, applying pressure in the same place for a long time may cause damage to the internal wires, solder joints or LED chips, thereby affecting the conductivity and luminous effect. When adjusting the shape of the light string, it is recommended to use large arc bending instead of sharp angle folding. Large arc bending can disperse stress and reduce damage to the internal circuit and external waterproof layer, while sharp angle folding can easily cause the outer skin to rupture or the internal structure to deform, thus affecting the waterproof performance. After installation, unnecessary movement should be minimized. Frequent pulling or bending will accelerate the aging of the light string and shorten its service life. After fixed installation, maintaining the stability of the light string will help maintain its waterproof seal and long-term reliability.
Waterproof light strings are usually sealed with glue, wrapped with silicone or IP65/IP67 protection design to make them resistant to rain and moisture. However, if the light string is bent or folded excessively, it may affect the waterproof effect. If the outer skin of the light string has tiny cracks due to sharp angle folding, moisture may penetrate into the internal circuit and cause short circuit or corrosion. If the light string has detachable joints or splices, frequent bending may cause the waterproof rubber ring to shift and reduce the seal. Some waterproof light strings use glue filling technology, and excessive bending may cause the colloid to crack and damage the waterproof barrier.
Pay special attention to avoid bending the waterproof joints of the light string. These parts usually use special waterproof sealing designs. Frequent bending may cause the sealing rubber ring to shift or the waterproof glue to crack, thereby compromising its waterproof performance. It is recommended to keep the installation straight in these key parts, or only make the minimum necessary bends.
